The problem

Traffic decisions are usually made on data that is weeks old and averaged into uselessness. By the time a count survey is processed, the conditions it described have moved on. Operators need to see what the road is doing now, and to look back over it without waiting for a report.

What I built

TMC records road and traffic conditions in real time and puts an analytics and visualisation layer directly on top of the stream. I worked on both the system design and the build, alongside AdAMS — the two share the same underlying view of the road network, so assets and traffic can be reasoned about together rather than in separate tools.

The outcome

Operators get a live picture instead of a retrospective one, and the recorded history stays queryable for longer-term analysis.
